FINDtheADHDgirls (FTAG) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the early identification, understanding, and support of girls with ADHD, especially inattentive and internalized presentations that are often missed or misdiagnosed. For decades, ADHD research, screening tools, and classroom expectations were based largely on how ADHD appears in boys. As a result, millions of girls grow up undiagnosed, struggling with attention, emotional regulation, anxiety, executive function, self-esteem, and school performance—often blamed for being “lazy,” “daydreamy,” or “too sensitive.” By the time many are diagnosed, the damage to confidence and mental health has already occurred. FTAG exists to change that trajectory. We provide evidence-informed education, screening tools, handouts, webinars, interviews with leading ADHD experts, and practical resources for parents, educators, school counselors, therapists, pediatric providers, and community organizations. Our work focuses on recognizing ADHD in girls before age eight, when early support can dramatically improve academic outcomes, emotional well-being, and lifelong self-belief. FTAG also amplifies the voices of women and girls with lived experience, helping families understand masking, internalized symptoms, emotional intensity, executive functioning challenges, and the unique ways ADHD affects girls across development. Donations support: Free ADHD awareness resources for families and schools Early screening and education initiatives Professional training and community outreach Research-informed content focused on girls and underrepresented ADHD profiles Reducing long-term mental health consequences of late or missed diagnosis Keywords: ADHD in girls, inattentive ADHD, early ADHD diagnosis, neurodivergent girls, executive function, emotional regulation, masking, mental health, education equity, child development, parenting support, school support, ADHD awareness, nonprofit, girls’ mental health. FTAG’s mission is simple and urgent: find ADHD in girls early—so they grow up understood, supported, and confident in who they are.

I’m participating in this marathon to help close the gap in ADHD identification and support for girls. Too many girls—especially those with inattentive ADHD—go undiagnosed for years because their struggles don’t match outdated stereotypes. Through FINDtheADHDgirls, we create research-informed tools, education, and free resources that help parents, educators, and clinicians recognize ADHD earlier, reduce long-term harm, and support girls before self-doubt and burnout take hold. This marathon is an opportunity to raise visibility, connect with new supporters, and accelerate early identification efforts that can change the course of a child’s life.
